 What We've Done...

  • Provided full medical evaluations and care for the disabled children at Hoi An Orphanage from 2003-2004

  • Provided orphanage staff with education on nutrition and disease by 2004

  • Staffed a weekly clinic for chronically ill children in Hoi An and Duy Xuyen in cooperation with the CHIA Foundation from 2002 to present

  • Provided health exams, health education and ongoing care for the children from poor families living at the Hoi An Children’s Home from 2005 to present

  • Assisted with the country-wide education on the proper use of mechanical ventilators in 2007

  • Participated in the formal and bedside education of critical care doctors at Bach Mai and Da Nang Hospital in 2008

  • Evaluated and treated 40 children with congenital and rheumatic heart disease in the countryside by 2008

  • Held a province-wide symposium to educate doctors on chronic disease management in 2008

  • Visited and held clinics at local health centers throughout 34 communes, caring for over 2000 patients and conducting informal patient-based education for physicians from 2007-2009

  • Created and distributed patient education materials on common adult diseases by 2007

  • Worked with local health officials to change the district health insurance for the poor to include inexpensive effective medicines for chronic diseases from 2007-2009

  • Provided equipment to local clinics and hospitals to improve the care of patients by 2009
  • Provided care for residents of the Da Nang Leper Colony in 2009
  1. Began our hypertension and diabetes diagnosis, treatment and management pilot project in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Viet Nam Ministry of Health in 2011
  • We have started a cardiac program and have completed nearly 50 surgeries on adults and children. READ STORIES...

Ten Ways to Change the World in Your Twenties is an organization and book whose mission is to offer tangible ideas to young adults who wish to be active in shaping the world in which we live. The Hoi An Foundation is featured on the Organizations Making A Difference page under “Ways to Put the Human in Humanitarian" section.

The Bucknell World is a magazine for the alumni of Bucknell University. The Hoi An Foundation is featured on page 19 of the November 2006 issue on Building Bridges in Asia.
