JOSHUA SOLOMON, Director

Josh did his undergraduate studies at Bucknell University and attended Emory Medical school in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at University of Texas Southwestern in 2001. After spending the next year in Viet Nam, he returned to the University of Colorado for a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. During that time he did research on rheumatoid arthritis-induced lung disease and the effects of age on scar formation in the lung. After finishing the fellowship he returned to Viet Nam full-time to expand the scope of the foundation. He is responsible for the management of the foundation as well as project design and patient care.

NANCY NGUYEN, Co-Director

Nancy received her doctoral training from the Oregon School of Oriental Medicine in 2011. She has been practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine since graduating from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine with her master's of science in 2006. Nancy's specializations include internal medicine, pain management, and women's health. She currently practices with the Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Colorado Hospital and in her own private practice at Fusion Health Acupuncture. She helps manage the direction of the foundation and is our representative in America, managing public relations and fundraising. She currently lives in Denver, Colorado and returns to Viet Nam frequently.

CAROL NAGY, In-Country Director

Carol is nurse from Tasmania. She has over 15 years experience in the acute hospital setting, mainly in intensive Care and has gone on to worked in a number of diverse of medical environments. Since 2001 Carol has worked extensively with Medecins Sans Frontieres in Africa, China and Cambodia. Some of her more recent roles include:  coordinating  HIV and Tuberculosis projects in Cambodia, human resource management and recruitment in Sydney, Australia and as a volunteer with Australian Volunteers International as health coordinator for a small NGO in Vietnam.

Carol has recently completed a post graduate course in disaster health management and is currently studying for a Masters in Public Health at James Cook University, Queensland, Australia

LUU PHUOC AN, Community Health Coordinator

Luu Phuoc went to Hue College of Sciences in Hue, Vietnam and graduated with a degree in chemistry and chemical  analysis. She worked for some time with the Institute of Material Sciences as a laboratory technician. She spent time as a public health officer in the Public Health Center in Hoi An and as an office manager with the Thu Thuy Silk Company. She works full time for the Hoi An Foundation. She manages the health care projects of the foundation and directs the Heart Program. Her responsibilities include project design and implementation as well as coordination with local officials. She also takes part in direct patient care. She lives in Hoi An, Viet Nam.

JESS SOLOMON, Business Manager

Jess earned a degree in Engineering and an advanced degree in Computer Science before entering the computer industry. After a few years, he founded his own company specializing in business software. He managed and directed this company as it continued to grow for 27 years.  In 2004, he merged his company with another and retired. In the last few years, he has been an advisor to various companies in  the areas of growth and strategic direction. His extensive background in business, finance and management are being utilized by the foundation as it experiences growth by expanding its projects and adding personnel.

BRIAN PENTI, Medical Liason

Brian graduated from Boston University School of Medicine in 2004 and completed training in Family Medicine at Boston university in 2007.  He is currently employed as Assistant Inpatient Director for Clinical Education at Boston Medical Center/Boston University Department Family Medicine.  Brian assists our work by providing and coordinating our medical services as one of our medical liasons and he also takes part in direct patient care. He returns to Hoi An many times a year.

NGUYEN THI THU QUYNH, Administrative Asssistant

Quynh earned her Business and Tourism degree at Da Nang University in 2009. Previously, she was employed as a receptionist at a local hotel. Wanting to improve her English and branch out to help people in need, she joined the Hoi An Foundation in May 2009. Initially, Quynh assisted us with our administration work. However as her English improved, she began assisting with translating for visiting western staff and health education for our patients.  She enjoys the challenges of working with an NGO and has become a valuable member of our team.
